Are we having fun yet? Mystic Pizza is history too!

Our guided tours feature a Mystic that is rich in history dating to the mid-1600s.  The very earliest colonial settlers set down roots here, seeking their place in the new world.  On our food tours we talk about the Pequot Indians, whaling and shipping, the War of 1812, the spirt of New England entrepreneurialism, rum running, wooden ships, and more!  But the piece of history that virtually everyone wants to know about?

With centuries of history to gaze back at, 1989 still holds a place in the hearts of almost all Mystic visitors, that’s the year Mystic Pizza was made!

30 year later there is hardly a moment when someone is not taking a selfie in front of the iconic Mystic Pizza sign.  In my previous life (corporate executive), I travelled the world and when I would mention Mystic, invariably I would here “…oh!  Have you been to Mystic pizza?…”  I used to feel frustrated that Mystic Pizza is so prominently viewed as our defining icon…..I’ve now broadened my horizons to embrace it.

All food tours, walking tours, and guided tours include a visit to Mystic Pizza, which sits in the heart of they Mystic Historic District.  After all, 1989 is history too!
